[About the actual machine] One of the great fighter planes of World War II was the American P-51 Mustang. The first flight was on October 26th. The Allison engine that was originally installed did not show amazing performance, but when the British Rolls-Royce Supermarine engine was installed, its performance was instantly blossomed. With its long range and speed of over 700 km/h, it was used to escort bombers in Europe and against the Japanese military in the Pacific Theater. Many types were developed, but the most widely produced was the D type. It was fitted with a water drop type windshield to improve visibility, and the number of 12.7mm machine guns mounted in the wings was increased to six, making it the definitive, well-balanced version of the P-51. Many ace pilots were born from the pilots who flew on board.
