The hull itself was also modernized. The vehicle's cover is provided by steel armor, providing protection against small arms and artillery shells. The Type 87 ARV is characterized by good maneuverability and limited ability to negotiate water obstacles. The vehicle also has good electronic equipment and a battlefield management system.
